  1.     Only people designated by the Sysop as "AIDES" may perform the following
  2. functions:
  3.  
  4.   => Visit the hidden Aide> room.
  5.   => Delete messages
  6.   => Delete empty rooms
  7.   => Edit a room
  8.   => Kill a room
  9.   => Move/insert messages
  10.   => Journal messages (aide at sysConsole only)
  11.  
  12.    Most changes are accounted for by the Citadel-86 system and are recorded
  13. under the aide's name in the Aide> room for scrutiny by other aides and
  14. Sysops.  If a person is found to be abusing their aide privileges, such
  15. privilidge may be removed at the discretion of the Sysop.

  17.  Procedures are as follows:
  18.  
  19.  TO DELETE/MOVE MESSAGES:
  20.    (1) Hit <P>ause during type-out of the message to be deleted.
  21.    (2) Hit <D>elete to continue.
  22.    (3) The message will print out again for confirmation.
  23.    (4) The system will then print out "<M>ove <D>elete <A>bort? (D/M/A) "
  24. If that is indeed the message to be deleted OR moved, then type <D> to delete
  25. that message, or <M> to move that message. Type <A> if you decide that you
  26. don't want to do anything with that message.
  27.      (4.a) If you select <M> above, then the system will ask you where:
  28. "To where (C/R = '<some room>'): " where <some room> is the room where the
  29. message will be inserted if you simply type a C/R. <some room> is always the
  30. last room to where a message was moved, or it is the Aide room if the command
  31. hasn't been used since the system was last brought up. Also, the message moved
  32. becomes the message that will be used for the <.AI> command (<.AI> is detailed
  33. later in this file).

  35.       Your name and a copy of the of the deleted/moved message will be
  36. automatically logged in Aide>.

  38.  TO JOURNAL A MESSAGE:
  39.    (1) Hit <P>ause during type-out of the message to be deleted.
  40.    (2) Hit <J>ournal to continue.
  41.    (3) The system will ask for a filename to save or append the given message
  42. to.
  43.    An empty return at this point will abort the operation.  Anything else will
  44. cause the system to attempt to either A) append to the given file or B) create
  45. the given file if it does not yet exist.  A failure (caused by who knows what)
  46. will cause the system to quit trying. If successful, the message will have
  47. been saved in a text file.

  49.    NOTE: At present, this capability is restricted to Aides at the sysConsole
  50. ONLY.

  52.  TO DELETE EMPTY ROOMS: 
  53.       The ".Aide Delete" command will eliminate all empty rooms in the system,
  54. except for permanent and directory rooms.  This will be logged under your
  55. name in Aide>.

  57.  TO EDIT A ROOM: 
  58.       The ".Aide Edit" command will allow you to rename the room you are in,
  59. or make it public/private.  The change will be logged under your name in
  60. Aide>.

  62.  TO INSERT A MESSAGE:
  63.       The ".Aide Insert" command will insert the last message you deleted into
  64. the room you are currently in.   This will be logged under your name in Aide>.

  66.  TO KILL A ROOM: 
  67.       The ".Aide Kill" command will delete the room you are in, regardless of
  68. contents.  This will be logged under your name in Aide>.
  69.  
  70.  NOTE: For obvious reasons, these commands cannot be used to modify Aide>
  71. itself.   "Deleting" a message in Aide> will >not< remove it from Aide>, but
  72. >will< make it "most recently deleted" for purposes of inserting the message
  73. elsewhere.
